It’s been a while…

Hey everyone…. Your girl is back!  It has been a while since I last posted, and I can only apologize; however 2018 started in a way I could never have imagined and I essentially had to take a break from blogging.

I just want to thank all my friends for their support at the time and even up until today. The last few months have shown me that I have the best friends ever!!!!!

site de rencontre homme timide Business as usual

Although I have been away, don’t think I haven’t been buying new products; oh no quite the opposite. I think I shopped even more lol….a girl needs to have something to keep her balanced right? What’s new?
Well one of the things I finally got around to buying is the Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation.

I know it has been around for a good while, but as I have so many foundations I didn’t have the need to rush out and buy it. I now know this was a mistake.

All the hype around this foundation is for a good reason. I cannot express how much I love it. When I first got it, I thought I would use it for special occasions only, but it has become my everyday foundation (as I now think my other foundations in comparison were ever so slightly off).

forex medlem Colour match:
I purchased my foundation in store at John Lewis. The colour match process was done by an electronic device which was placed against my cheek.

Within seconds I was told that my colour is ‘Truffle’. The sales assistant then applied the same and I was instantly won over by the preciseness of the match. It’s like wearing foundation, without wearing foundation if that makes sense lol.

The product comes in a standard 30ml bottle. Upon reading the packaging it states that the foundation stays in place comfortably for up to 15 hours.

I would definitely attest to this; I usually apply the foundation around 7am before I leave for work and to date I have never had to reapply during the day.

There are times when I have gone out after work and got home at 10pm and it still looks good 🙂 (if I do say so myself). Best of all, the foundation is extremely light and non-greasy, which as a sufferer of oily skin is a huge plus point.

If you are still searching for that foundation to make you go “yesssss girl i’m looking fierce” then Estee Lauder Double Wear is definitely worth a try.

Tarte cosmetics- Good for you Glamour set review

There are so many make up brands that I have yet to try, and Tarte cosmetics was one of them. I had seen so many positive reviews about their products and my opportunity came to try the brand recently via QVC UK.

I happened to be channel surfing and came accross a special offer they had for the good for you glamour set

Tarte cosmetics on QVC

QVC special The set

This comprises of a clay stick foundation (and foundation brush), a palette called ‘ladies night’ that has eyeshadow, blusher, bronzer and highlighter. There is also mascara and to finish a lipgloss and lipstick combination with a make up bag.

What stood out to me is that the clay foundation stick came in darker colours meaning that I was able to buy it. The range has various shades and is suitable for most skin tones, which is always a plus!

Another reason for buying this set, is I thought it would be a perfect introduction to the brand, as it gives the opportunity to try a variety of their products.

Overall I am impressed and I definitely got a bargin from QVC considering the amount of products that are in the set. The total cost was £37.47. However with VAT and postage the total was just under £50. This is still good when you consider that the foundation stick directly from Tarte cosmetics is usually £35.

I would definitely recommend keeping an eye on QVC as they often have special deals.  The usual price for the set is £65, which although slightly more is still reasonable. Favourite item

I absolutely love the eyeshadow colours, which are very on trend at the moment with their autumnal hues. The colours have names such as ‘selfie’ ‘clutch’ ‘payday’ ‘own it’. I mean what’s not to love 🙂

Furthermore the actual pigment in the colours is strong, which I love (as it means less application). Eyeshadows which require constant application are one of my pet peeves.

…and then we have the mascara. What can I say about this ….the packaging is everything!

The main thing I love about the products is that they look high end, but at a fraction of the price.

Furthermore the quality of the products are good…in fact very good.  Since I got this set I have actually purchased some more make up from . The company is in America, therefore shipping costs need to be taken into account, when making a purchase.

However if you subscribe to their email you are sure to receive special offers. They recently did a birthday special and one of the treats was free shipping. How could I let that offer pass me by!

All in all my first daliance with Tarte cosmetics is positive and I am looking forward to getting to try out more of their range.

My Kiehl’s Skincare Discovery

Who knew?

The saying goes ‘better late than never’. That’s exactly how I feel about ig trading demo Kiehl’s. I know Kiehl’s has been around for the longest time, but I only tried their products for the first time last month…and I do believe that I am a convert.

Kiehl's skincare

I would say that over the last year my skincare is something that I have started paying a lot more attention to. Although it’s taken me a while, I think I have now found the perfect products.

My Kiehl’s discovery started in duty free when I was off on holiday last month.  I decided to purchase the Ultra Facial Cream and the Midnight Recovery Eye. I honestly can’t tell you what I was expecting. A lot of times I can’t actually use products that people rave about because my skin can be quite sensitive. That’s in addition to it being a combination of oily with the odd dry area here and there! (My struggles are real people lol).

Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream My thoughts on Kiehl’s

However I was pleasantly surprised. The cream has the lightest of textures, but is extremely moisturizing without being overly harsh. By this I mean that, my skin didn’t feel like it was saturated in product.

Having used it consistently for over a month now, I do feel like I can see an improvement in my skin. With other products I have used in the past, I tend to moisturize twice a day, but I personally haven’t felt the need to with this. In the mornings I do my usual cleansing and toning and then I moisturize with the Ultra Facial Cream. In the evenings I do the same, and just apply the Midnight Recovery Eye.

Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Eye

Now, my absolute favorite is the Midnight Recovery Eye.  For the longest time, I would wake up in the mornings with my under eye area being so dry. This made me look way more tired than I actually was. I tried everything, from olive oil, coconut oil, vaseline…you name it, nothing worked.

Since using the Midnight Recovery Eye, things have changed. The dryness is no more and my morning face takes much less time to fix lol. Needless to say, if I was given the choice of having only one beauty product for the rest of my life, for me it would be this hands down.

I have recently purchased the Kiehl’s lip balm, and like the other products before I really like. The good thing about it, is that I don’t feel like it needs to be reapplied throughout the day.

Kiehl's lip balm

Although the products do appear small in size for the price paid, I would say it is worth it. A little amount of each product goes such a long way.  So you get your money’s worth.  The thing with beauty and skincare is that it is subjective. What works for one person may not work for another.  But if like me you have been searching for a while, I would definitely recommend at least trying one of the products.  I am already eyeing up what I may purchase from Kiehl’s next. Give it a try. You never know, you might like it 🙂

Afro Hair and Beauty 2017

The Afro Hair and Beauty show is an exhibition that has been going on for years. Mainly targeted at the Afro Caribbean community, it provides an opportunity to see what the latest products and trends are in the industry.

It’s held over a two day period of the last May bank holiday, and this past weekend I was fortunate enough to win tickets to attend.

Before I went I knew that my focus would be on the beauty aspect. With respect to my hair I have my go to brand (which is Cantu), and I literally have the majority of their products so I didn’t think it was worth buying any new hair products. Don’t get me wrong, I did take a look at hair brands, but that was all…just looked.

I decided that for this post I would focus on the brands that I purchased from on the day. Peach & Pearl Brushes

Now I have been looking for makeup brushes for a while. It may sound strange but I have become so cautious when it comes to buying full sets of brushes. This is because I purchased a set previously but when I started using it, it barely held the product, rendering the brushes effectively useless.

So I was very happy to come across Peach and Pearl. What initially caught my eye is that the brushes are just so pretty. (I know the aesthetic is not the important thing….but it helps lol)

Upon feeling the brushes, I could immediately tell that they were good quality. The brushes felt soft, yet sturdy enough to hold a good amount of product. I then got speaking to the founder and CEO Sinead Oliver, who told me that the company was formed last year and that the brushes are vegan and cruelty free.

The set is comprised of 7 brushes, however they can be bought individually. I purchased an all over powder brush, as I did want to test it out. Honestly I wish I had purchased the set there and then, however I can get them online so hope is not lost!

casanova dating service Akoma skin care

I came across this brand on a stall by a company called Melariche who promote beauty brands targeted towards women of colour.

The reason why I was drawn to Akoma is because their products are made by a cooperative in Ghana. As I am from Ghana and I love natural skin products I thought I should at least make one purchase.

I decided to buy the black soap. Having heard so much about black soap I thought it was about time I give it a go.

For those that have never heard of Black soap, the soap is used widely throughout Africa. It’s purposes include makeup removal, washing your hair, bathing and showering. It is also said to have medicinal qualities in that it can help with acne, and helps with rough and dry skin. It is also said to help fight signs of ageing and soothes the effects of sun damage. How could I not purchase this!

Akoma have the soap in a liquid format and as a soap bar. I purchased the soap bar.

The ingredients include coconut oil and fairtrade organic raw shea butter….so much goodness 🙂

I haven’t used it yet, but am looking forward to seeing what the black soap hype is about.

All in all, I was very happy with my little purchases from the show. If you have never attended Afro hair and beauty I definitely suggest you check it out next year….after all you never know what you may find.

The Perfume Studio

So what do you get yourself when you have bought enough make up to last the rest of your life, already have piles and piles of clothes and have no more space for handbags or shoes? No idea….well read on 🙂

What’s this all about?

I recently attended an event called #Bloggersareus which was hosted by AshleeMo Events. At this event I discovered the brand The Perfume Studio.

At first glance of the name, you may think that The Perfume Studio  is a company that just sells perfume, to a certain extent that may be true, however it’s not just any perfume. The Perfume Studio specialise in creating bespoke perfumes, and I was lucky enough to have one made. I hope you can tell, I was beyond excited, especially when I got told I could name it too! Yes people, I have a fragrance which I have named ‘Yo Soy…’ which is Spanish for ‘I am’.

What happens next?

The process behind creating my perfume was simple and excellently explained by their representative on the day Ben. I was asked to smell a number of fragrance blends each of which are categorised into the following either Base, Middle or Top.

I then chose my favourites and matched the blends which I felt went together best. There’s no specific formula, in that you do not need to select a fragrance blend from each category. Its literally what works for you.  So if you like two base blends and one top blend…that’s cool; or if you like all top blends no problem. There are no rules!

The best thing is that having a bespoke fragrance from The Perfume Studio is not as expensive as one would think. You can get a bespoke fragrance for under £40. I mean value or what! Considering that most of us spend in excess of this, for perfumes that everyone has, it just makes sense to invest in something unique to you.

I have to say, I am in love with my fragrance, and without a doubt would recommend everyone creating their own. After all, it’s good to be original 🙂

The bespoke perfumes also make great gifts, and so if your struggling to find something for that special friend or family member, look no further.

The Perfume Studio have a range of offers, workshops and experiences events. If you would like more information just click on the links within this post.

You can thank me later xx
