It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas: 5 Festive Films

Believe it or not, it’s quickly approaching that time of year again. Everywhere you look everything is Christmas related. I absolutely love this season. Everyone is looking forward to spending time with family, unwrapping presents, eating good food and watching festive films.

The period leading up to Christmas is all about being at home in comfy clothes and fluffy slippers, with a nice hot drink. Once I have all these things, the next thing I do, is put on a film to watch. Nothing beats watching films (Christmas or otherwise), than viewing them on a good tv; and hd televisions panasonic have a great range , which will make your viewing experience even better. Just in case, you are after a really great Christmas present, a Panasonic HDTV would be a good choice #justsaying

One of the reasons that Christmas films are a favorite genre of mine, is that they have that ‘feel good’ factor. Given that there’s so much negativity going on in the world, Christmas films leave you feeling like everything is actually ok. Corny I know, but honestly who doesn’t like ‘Miracle on 34th Street’? (Ok sure there are a few people, but we won’t talk about them!).

Let’s set the scene:

For me, I need to have snacks. I cannot think of a time, where I have been watching a film, and just looked at the screen. It’s just unheard of, and totally not my thing! Usually I grab a big bag of crisps and will have some popcorn.

Popcorn and snacks

However Christmas snacks…..hold on whilst I take a moment….Christmas snacks…. are on another level.

It’s the time where ready salted and cheese and onion crisps, do not see the light of day. Why? It’s because you suddenly start seeing flavours such as ‘stilton and prosecco’ , or roast turkey and cranberry. It would be rude, to just have one packet whilst watching a film, especially as these flavours will only be around for such a short space of time! So snacks at the ready, and onto the films.

My Top 5 Christmas film list:

TOP 5 Movies

1) Home alone

2) Love Actually

3) Best Man Holiday

4) Elf

5) The Holiday

Not forgetting those tv movie gems that you find on the Hallmark Channel or the extra Christmas channels that are added around this time of year. Do not discount these channels people!

E = mc2 (The Formula for good Christmas films)

The Formula

Whether it’s laughter or tears, a good festive film involves the stirring of your emotions.

For those of you that have seen Best Man Holiday, you will know exactly what I am talking about! I was an absolute mess at the end of this film. In case you haven’t seen it, I won’t give away any spoilers, but I will give you a tip. Make sure you have tissues and plenty of them.

Next on my list is Romance. Nothing beats a little bit of Romance at Christmas time. I mean, who doesn’t want Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy to get together? Although Bridget Jones is not a typical Christmas film, there is a scene with snow, so in my book that qualifies.

The ultimate romantic Christmas film (to me) is Love Actually. To be fair, the title says it all!

The next part of my ‘formula’ comprises of comedy.

Films like ELF, Home Alone are great if you want belly laughs.

Home Alone movie

The fact that Macaulay Culkin to this day is still remembered for Home Alone is a testament to how great that film is!

Last but not least, where would a festive movie be without a happy ending? The last scene in the movie ‘It’s a wonderful life’ to this day remains a total classic.

That’s all folks!

I honestly could go on and on about my favourite Christmas movies, however if I did, this post would never end.

I hope you have enjoyed this snapshot of what my Christmas viewing is usually like. As I mentioned in my last post, I really want to share more of the things that I get up to.

Given that I am a tv and film addict, (sad but true) and we are approaching the festive season, I thought this would be a perfect introduction to all future posts regarding Christmas.

If you have any Christmas film recommendations, please let me know in the comments.

I love watching the holiday! My favorite festive film has got to be the Muppets Christmas carol, can’t wait to watch that one again (only on Christmas Eve!)

Thanks for the love on the post, I seriously appreciate it! I agree with you about Hallmark, their films are dope! Best Man’s holiday, let me not lie I don’t think I can ever watch it again…the emotional impact was too much. It’s a shame as it’s a great film, but damn…I can’t cry like that again lol. Thank you again for stopping by ?
