New year, new me….really?

New Year New me

New year

Happy New Year everyone! Am sure there are those of you that have made your resolutions and goals for 2019 and can’t wait to get them started.

I applaud you, and I do mean this sincerely. Don’t get me wrong, I have purchased a snazzy new diary/planner (from Homesense) which I can’t wait to use.

(It even has stickers lol).

However my plan for 2019 isn’t so much about resolutions, it’s about a ‘way of life’ change.

How so?

For the last few years I have had experiences which have called on me to really rely on God.

For example, exactly a year ago today (on January 2nd 2018) my mum was admitted to hospital gravely ill. At first the Doctors thought she had sepsis, however it turned out to be severe pneumonia.

I am not ashamed to say, I got down on my hands and knees and prayed. I prayed like never before. Thankfully there was a positive response to my prayers.

The effects of what happened are still with my mum today, however the main thing is she made it through.

At the time she was ill, I read so many articles about people who were decades younger than her, and had the same exact illness, but passed away, I realised how blessed we were she made it.

End of the year

This past new years eve, we were in church welcoming in the new year.

This was the first time my mum had been back to Church since she was in hospital at the start of the year.

Being there with her made me realise that in 2019, I need to focus on my relationship with God. Why?

Because this experience (along with a few others), has shown me that in my times of despair, I (and my loved ones) have survived, and did so through prayer.

I know that once my focus on my relationship with God is in place, then everything else will follow.

What’s next?

Like everyone else, I have a lot of things on the go. Work, family, friends and my blog.

Towards the latter part of 2018 I started focusing on my blog more, however my aim in 2019 is to focus on this consistently, but not at the expense of anything else.

I truely believe that once I seek spiritual guidance, I will be able to focus in a way which will benefit all things associated with me.

Rather than thinking of new year’s resolutions, (which usually last a few weeks) I want to focus on life goals.

I recently tweeted that 2018 was all about #bestlife.

For this year, I would like for 2019 (and onwards) to be about #blessed life.

2018 definitely taught me not to take things and people for granted. It was also the year where I let go of some relationships (within my family).

Although this was painful to go through, it was a life lesson. I would be a fool, if I didn’t learn from these experiences.

Going forward, I hope that 2019 is the year of experiences (spiritual and otherwise).

I will of course be doing my makeup and skincare reviews, but I also hope to expand the content on my blog.

My plan is to feature a lot more lifestyle and travel posts as well as updates regarding my life.

Let me know what your hopes for the new year are, sometimes we can get inspired by others.

2019 I welcome you with open arms…let’s make it a good one!

I’m glad to hear that your mum made it through her illness. The blessings we receive do come through our faith. Faith and God will change your life and the blessings will be seen in every aspect of it including the ability to touch other people through your writing and posts and grow your reach.

Beautiful post. I agree with setting some life goals rather than short term life ‘attempted’ improvements. I also love the fact you are focusing on blogging but in a way that will outshine other outlooks of life. Perfect!
