The Liebster Award

The Liebster Award…what’s it all about!

As a new blogger I always get excited when people I don’t know (no offence to family and friends lol) come across my blog and contact me. This happened recently when I was contacted by Lauren another blogger who advised that she wanted to nominate me for a Liebster Award. Check out Lauren’s blog travelyourdreams.co.uk

As I had no idea what the Liebster award is, I decided to do some digging (as you do), and I was pleasantly surprised to find out that the Liebster Award is a recognised achievement targeted specifically at new bloggers.

The great thing, is that the nomination process acts as a way to find out about other bloggers, (as nominees then have to nominate other bloggers).

As part of my nomination, I now have to answer a series of questions given to me by Lauren, so here goes…

How long have you been blogging & what made you start?

I have been blogging for just over a month, so am a newbie to the blogging world. I started after having a conversation with my cousin who is a blogger…shameless plug alert coming, check out her blog thetrousseaudiaries.com

My cousin said that she didn’t understand why I hadn’t started blogging, as she knew I loved travel, and all things lifestyle and beauty; she felt that I could have a lot of things to share. That same day, I thought I would give it a try, and a month and a bit later here I am!

What does blogging mean to you?

I feel that blogging provides a way for me to be creative, express my ideas and my opinions; there’s no one to explain what your doing, or to check your work, everything is 100% me, and I love it 🙂

What is your favourite travel quote?

Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer.

Out of all the destinations you’ve visited, where is your favourite & why?

I have to say Anguilla which is an island in the Eastern part of the Caribbean (near St Barts and St Maarten).

I loved Anguilla as it is not as touristy as some other carribean islands, therefore I found it to be very authentic. The island itself is stunning, with the best beaches I have seen; the people are extremely friendly and the food (particularly the street food) was some of the best I have tried.

Is there anywhere in the world that you wouldn’t visit or would avoid going to?

Honestly I have never had the desire to visit India. I don’t know why, especially as I have had a number of friends visit there and say it was amazing; however it’s just never appealed  to me!.

Where was your most recent destination?

Alvor in Portugal.

Do you love or despise the actual travel part of your trips? (E.g. flights)

Honestly I’m not the greatest flyer especially when there is turbulence, it freaks me out. I tend to spend my flights looking at my watch counting down till landing.

What is your best packing tip?

Ask anyone who travels with me and they will direct you to ask someone else for travelling tips! I have yet to learn the skill of travelling without having a ‘heavy’ label tagged to my luggage! So if I were to offer a tip it would be learn to travel light.

What is your most essential item that you cannot travel without?

My phone and my leopard print kaftan…yes leopard print lol. My kaftan is my travelling version of a pair of comfy pj’s and my phone…need I say more!!!

Do you travel for the weather, partying, culture, escapism or other?

I travel mainly for relaxation, however it does need to be a warm destination, so you are not likely to find me on a ski break in Aspen.

Where are you traveling to next?

I have recently come back from 3 trips (Costa Rica, Cyprus and Portugal) and so am having a bit of a break. I will next be heading to the USA Maryland and Washington.

Questions for my nominees: My nominations go to the following bloggers:

Melina whose blog is: theladylikeleopard.com and Stephanie whose blog is: part-timeexplorer.com and Rebecca whose blog is: recoveringhippie.com
